It's that time again...

  • For the song of the week!
  • I know I am late on posting this, but I have another great song for you to caress your eardrums with...so don't fret!
  • This one is from one of my favorite bands around.
  • They go by the name "Protugal. The Man" these guys are sooooo good!
  • They're from Alaska, and got big in Portland.
  • The song I have for you is "The Sun" off of their record "The Satanic Satanist" (I know it sounds dark, but it really does not pertain to what the album is trying to coney)
  • Give the whole album a listen when you get the chance, you won't regret it!
  • Click here to listen! ------->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ds2RrLNPAHc
  • Enjoy this song, "The Sun" because the real one has not been deciding to show up in the past few weeks!

Troll Time!

  • After living in Washington for 23 years I finally visited a Seattle Art Classic...
  • The Fremont Troll!
  • He's right under the Aurora Bridge, and he's amazing.
  • If you get down there I highly suggest you stop at North 36th Street to visit him.
  • He's way bigger than I thought, I even saw some kids fit their entire head into his left nostril...nice!
  • Oh I got those new shoes I was talking about a few weeks ago. There they are sitting in my car.
  • I'm pumped to skate them! Hopefully we'll get some more sunny weather, so  can break 'em in soon...
  • Alright that's all for now, I'm out!

Night time is the right time...

  • For a fun session! I had a good time skating tonight in a well lit, and undercover spot with a good friend.
  • My iPod shuffle, board, and beverage (Pictured) was exactly what I needed today! Looks like I should have brought a ball to get down on some Foursquare too : ] I hope some good weather is in our near future so that I don't have to rely on spots like these.
  •   As for now I need to get on the planning so that I can make sure I get up to the mountain soon!
  • I hope you guys had a great day, talk to you later...

Sustainable Decks...from animals?

  • Here is an idea which I came up with for my sustainability marketing class.
  • We were asked to incorporate the natural designs found in nature, into a product which would make it more sustainable. Here is my idea for decks.
  • I read that horse hooves are among the most crack resistant materials found on earth!
  • So I thought of making a compound which would mimic the chemical makeup of hooves.
  • Then use this compound as plies for decks.
  • Instead of using Maple for the plies, the "hoof plies" would be more sustainable - and way more resistant to cracking!
  • I also was inspired by the "glue" mussels use in order to bond themselves to many surfaces - wet or dry for long periods of time.
  • If we could somehow extract this natural "glue" our decks would have better resistance to chipping as well as water damage!
  • Epoxy is nasty stuff for our environment, and using something natural, which is a lot stronger than our synthetic inventions would make a lot more sense, right?
  • This biomimicry stuff is very interesting, and is applicable to almost any product with enough imagination!
  • That's all I have for now, have a great day!
